Job Purpose

Responsible for the inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of water-cooled chillers (York & Carrier), AHU, & FCU. This includes replacing compressors, motors, VFDs, sensors, pumps, valves, and associated mechanical/electrical systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation of the chiller.

Principal Accountabilities

Preventive Maintenance:

· Perform routine preventive maintenance on chillers, including oil changes, filter replacement, condenser/evaporator cleaning, and

alignment checks.

· Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults in chiller systems.

· Maintain associated systems such as primary & secondary pumps, motors, piping, and valves.

· Inspect refrigerant charge, detect leaks, and conduct recovery, recycling, and recharging

· Monitor & adjust operating parameters (pressures, oil levels, water flows, change in pressure & temperatures).

Corrective Maintenance:

· Conduct full compressor replacements, including removal, installation, and alignment.

· Overhaul compressors including inspection & replacing of bearings, & seals.

· Testing & replacing sensors & related valves.

· Diagnose and repair alternators, drives, VFDs, and motor control centers.

· Perform calibration and troubleshooting of control panels, BMS, and electronic expansion valves.

· Carry out vibration analysis, oil analysis, and monitoring.

· Inspect and maintain expansion valves, solenoid valves, oil return systems, and safety devices.

· Conduct testing and balancing of chilled water flow.

· System Monitoring & Compliance

· Record all maintenance activities, operational readings, and repairs

· Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and restore chiller functionality with minimal downtime

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or HVAC Engineering.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in chiller operation and maintenance (centrifugal, screw, or reciprocating type).
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and refrigerant handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with BMS, VFDs, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Certified in Refrigerant Recovery and Handling (EPA or equivalent) – preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
